Types of printing
What is Vinyl Printing
Vinyl is cut to a specific shape using a plotting machine, then weeded by hand (remove unwanted vinyl) to leave only the design on the backing carrier. It is then pressed for a specific amount of time using a heat press onto the garment. This method of printing is great for 1 – 2 coloured designs that are not overly detailed. Used for customised names and numbers for shirts you can rely on the durability and vibrancy of the print, it will never fade, crack or wash out. With no set up fee or minimum order it is perfect for one off custom jobs.
What is DTG Printing
DTG or Direct to Garment printing is the process of using an inkjet garment printer to directly print the design on to the chosen garment. Ink penetrates deep into the fabric of the garment leaving the print soft to the touch and light weight. Straight from a computer image to the garment this beast can print up to 80 shirts an hour and we have 2 of them. Very environmentally friendly using water based garment inks with no wastage which is always a good thing. Being an inkjet DTG printer it can print a full colour photographic image, gradients and colour tones with ease.
What is Transfer Printing
Transfer printing basically combines both vinyl and DTG printing in one, the machine will firstly print out the design and then cut round it to complete the transfer. We will then heat press the transfer on to the specific garment. Full colour image designs really showcase the power and versatility of this machine. Great for promotional wear, work wear, uniforms, team wear as the print is hard wearing and the clarity is stunning.
What is Sublimation
Our newest piece of equipment is the 44 inch wide sublimation printer and the automatic wide format heat press. How the process works is quite literally genius, our printer will print out the design using special sublimation inks on to the carrier transfer paper. We will then heat press the transfer on to the garment/accessory of choice. What occurs when heat is applied to the inks is that they turn to a gas state and become part of the garment/material.
What is Embroidery
Embroidery gives a distinct quality impression and can turn a standard polo shirt, t shirt, sweatshirt etc into a superior garment. You will find embroidery on almost every team wear kit with both the badge and brand being examples of what can be done with embroidery. Perfect for small crest sized logos and designs on all sorts of garments and accessories.
